Came here on a Saturday night and it was empty. We made a reservation online but you could have walked in without one. We opted for indoor seating but they have a nice outdoor seating area too. It was just too hot. We opted for the tasting menu but underestimated how much food came with it so we were stuffed by the end. They do let you take the food to go and since we were staying in the hotel, they reheated the leftovers for us the next day too. The tasting menu is interesting. The food is unique. A lot of the different plates I normally would not combine together. I would even say some dishes almost had a fusion Asian flavor. Like the tuna crudo comes with a corn coconut broth. It's a chilled broth but not heavy on the corn flavor. It reminds me of a Thai coconut curry sauce. Same with the purple yam, ube, which is used in a lot of Asian cuisines. The tasting menu also comes with a full size 12oz New York steak. I asked for my steak to be cooked rare but it came out barely pink. I believe they mixed up my steak with my friends so we switched but even then her steak was pink and not really rare red. Only dish I was meh about was the dessert which was a vanilla flan. I would have loved it without the heavy shaving of manchego cheese on top. It was overwhelming and pungent and made the taste of the flan salty and sweet but strange. Our server was wonderful. He was always checking on us and he even noticed I didn't like my beverage much and took it off the check. Great guy! Fun experience and the food was unique. Worth a try if you're in the area or wanting to try something different!

Tia Carmen was such a treat for breakfast during our staycation! The breakfast bar is self serve and has an abundance of options. There was pastries, potatoes, eggs, an omelette station, and more. Also, the birria was so good that it inspired me to make my own for lunch recently. I also liked that there were multiple drink options with agua frescas in the buffet area to try. We had a wonderful server who checked in to make sure everything was great and she brought us coffee as well. The decor in this restaurant really elevates everything as well. It's so visually stunning inside. I definitely want to come back for dinner.

Kebobs were delicious! Steak was cooked perfectly! Spiced fingerling tatoes were flavorful and crispy! Service was on point! Great spontaneous dinner after being at the pool all day. Will definitely go back and would like to try the seafood platter as the table next to us ordered it and the presentation was gorgeous.

We have heard great things about Tia Carmen and it definitely met our expectations. The aesthetic of the restaurant transported me to Tulum. It is beautiful once you step inside and the outdoor dining space was a whole Tulum beach vibe. Service was good. Food came out at a good pace, even with our table of 7. Favorite appetizer is the tuna crudo, that broth is just absolutely amazing and full of flavor. You could drink it on its own. The fish was fresh and there were tapioca pearls that just added another layer of texture. All the entrees were so good! The steak my husband ordered was perfectly cooked and the mole sauce that it was served it was one of my favorites moles. It was more on the sweeter side but the chocolate flavor was so intense that I was surprised how well it worked with the steak and bone marrow butter. I got the purple yams and I can't even describe how well all the flavors worked. The dish was lacking some texture since everything was soft but I didn't even care cause it tasted SO good. For desserts we tried the omakase (which can vary every time) and the flan with tequila caramel and manchego cheese. Hands down the flan! The caramel sauce was to die for and the shredded manchego added a salty balance. Can't wait to go again and try the other dishes on the menu.

Located in the JW Marriot Hotel in Desert Ridge, I would highly recommend Tia Carmen. A chill spot but just classy enough for a night or date out. Our waiter was super friendly and helpful with the menu and recommendations. We tried a whole bunch of dishes including various tostadas and other dishes. Drinks always fun and delicious as well. Will definitely be back.

Been here multiple times and their food and service never disappoint. This past time we went we tried out this purple potato special entree and this was the highlight of the night. It is vegetarian friendly too! Every drink is a plus and our server was fantastic and giving us fantastic recommendations Definitely recommend!

Super cute and bougie brunch spot! Great service too. My group of 6 came for weekend brunch and got the mercado experience, which is the breakfast buffet for $42/pp. For the cost, it would be nice to have some more premium items, but if you don't mind spending for the ambiance there is still some great food options between Mexican and Western. The salad bar is really nice. Omelette station good. Horchata was the best horchata I ever had! Tres leches french toast was also quite good. Pozole on weekends only. If you have any big eaters then you could get decent value out of this.

My husband and I dined here Monday night. All the dishes we had were delicious and service was on point! However what ruined our experience was the manager continually coming over to the table and trying to start up a conversation. I dont know about you, but we go out to eat to spend time each other, not a stranger trying to make small talk. I think she was newly promoted, she mentioned she was the general manager multiple times and would not take the hint we wanted to get back to our meal. We will absolutely come back but we will be calling ahead of time to see if she's working first. Sad we have to plan our date nights around that.

We enjoyed a family dinner, for Mother's Day, on the patio of Tia Carmen at the JW Marriot Desert Ridge. The offerings were elevated, unique, earthy, and delicious. We arrived before sunset, walked the grounds, and we left in the lovely ambiance of the lit up and aesthetically pleasing restaurant. Our server was kind and friendly. The bus boys were courteous, and everyone wore smiles. The restaurant is higher priced, but it did live up to the hype. It was a wonderful night out. Appetizers: Pan Frito with honey butter Tri tip kebabs Drinks: Desert Hibiscus Balloon Evergreen Martini Riesling Dinner: Ribeye with seasoned bone marrow butter Yucca Brulee Guisado Chicken Street Corn Whole Trout Ember Roasted Purple Yam Dessert: Rumchata ice cream bar (gift for mothers day) Banana split Flan with Manchego cheese

I've golfed at this resort many times and never knew that they had such an amazing restaurant here inside the hotel. From the moment you turn the corner the ambience is so open, airy and relaxing. I got the steak wraps and they were cooked perfectly. My family are still ranting and raving about them. I enjoyed a side of elote which it's always my favorite thing to order. I also got the tostada with guacamole very flavorful. We devoured absolutely everything. I was here to celebrate my birthday and the staff made sure to make that extra special. This place is one of the very top on my list of recommendations it is so great. You cannot go wrong and will not be disappointed.
